ALA Annual Conference
The American Library Association Annual Conference (known usually as just "Annual") is the largest librarian conference in the world. It is held each June in a large city in North America. Conferences feature multiple pre-conferences, extensive vendor displays, and many concurrent sessions, programs, and meetings.
Common locations include Chicago (the site of ALA headquarters), Philadelphia, and Orlando. The Orlando site has drawn criticism. In 2003 the conference was held outside the United States, in Toronto, but the event was overshadowed by fears over a mild SARS outbreak at the time.
