Desk Set (in the UK: His Other Woman) is a 1957 film staring Spencer Tracy as Richard Sumner and Katherine Hepburn as Bunny Watson. The film, a romantic comedy, was based on a Broadway play by Robert Fryer and Lawrence Carr. It is often credited as the first major motion picture to mention the concept of “information science.”
Desk Set focuses on research librarians at the Manhattan television corporation, the Federal Broadcasting Network. When efficiency expert Richard Sumner appears with his computer invention "Emmy," the librarians are afraid they are going to be replaced. However, the super computer may have met it's match in Bunny, the head researcher at the library.
