- An additional copy of an item already in a library collection which is not needed. Items in high demand may be ordered in multiple copies. When demand eventually drops, duplicates are often weeded from the collection as they cease to circulate, and either discarded or sold in a book sale. Compare with added copy.
- In reprography, an exact copy of an original (either positive or negative) which can be used in place of, or in the same way as, the original. Also refers to the process of making single or multiple copies of an original.
