Mark and park
Colloquial for the act of cataloging a book (marking) and shelving it in the stacks (parking).
Often said rhetorically when discussing various aspects of collection management or library operations in general (e.g., "we don't just mark it and park it"). However in libraries with large research collections some items are invariably never used, thus receiving little more than the "mark and park" treatment.
