Shelves near the reference desk where standard reference books in high demand are kept close at hand to enable librarians to provide rapid access to factual information (examples: Books in Print, Encyclopedia of Associations, World Almanac & Book of Facts, Statistical Abstract of the U.S., and style manuals).

Other types of ready reference books include zip code and city directories as well as dictionaries and information pertaining to your city and county. Directories listing government information can also be included in the ready reference collection.
