A publication in any medium issued in successive parts and appearing at regular intervals, which is intended to be continued indefinitely. Each issue usually bears a publication date or number which identifies it in sequence. Serials include periodicals such as newspapers and magazines, monographic series, annuals such as yearbooks and reports, and the journals, proceedings, and transactions of societies and other organizations.
