Current awareness service
From LISWiki
(Redirected from Current awareness services)
Alerts of items in a library user's areas of interest; a publication, or a system designed by librarians, to alert readers and researchers to recently published literature in a field, or on a specific topic. Sometimes used synonymously with Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) service.
For example, the table of contents for new issues of selected journals or new search results for a specified query are e-mailed to a user.
Not all current awareness services used to be run this way; technology has improved the library staff workload of providing a current awareness service.
