A systematic, comprehensive abridgment or condensation of a written work, usually prepared by someone other than the author of the original, and generally broader in scope than a synopsis. Sometimes includes headings and subheadings for quick reference. Also refers to a periodical containing condensations of works from various sources, usually arranged in some kind of order.
