Tennant's Law

From LISWiki
Jump to: navigation, search

A frequently cited statement by Roy Tennant:

librarians like to search
everyone else likes to find

The maxim first appeared in Roy's Digital Libraries column in Library Journal.[1]

It is often quoted during discussions of search processes and features not of interest to library patrons, who usually view tools such as OPACs and databases merely as a means to an end.
