A phrase, abbreviated n.d., which indicates that the publication date is not known. This abbreviation is used in the MARC cataloging language and the American Psychological Association (APA) citation style manual. In MARC, if a book or other item does not bear a publication date, but the correct date is ascertainable from other sources, it is indicated in the catalog entry inside [ ] (brackets).
