- A book or manuscript in the form of a long sheet, usually rolled around a wooden rod. In antiquity, books written on papyrus were usually in scrolls. Books with pages replaced scrolls after parchment came into use as a writing surface.
- Also, to cause the text or images on a computer screen to move up or down by means of keystrokes on a keyboard or the manipulation of a mouse.
