Controlled vocabulary
From LISWiki
An indexing system in which the indexer, in assigning descriptors or subject headings to works, selects a list of preferred terms. All other synonymous and closely related terms become lead-in vocabulary, indicated by a brief instruction to See or Use the preferred term.
