Running head

The title or abbreviated title of a book, or section of a book, which is repeated at the top of each page, or at the top of each verso; the line of type printed above the text at the top of a page which in a book gives the title of the book, section, or chapter. In a periodical the running head usually contains the periodical title, issue number or date, and sometimes the article title. Synonymous with headline, page head, or running title.
