Shelving room

A staging area, often accessible to the public, where items are waiting to be reshevled. These can be books that have been recently returned to the circulation desk, or others than have been pulled off the shelves by library users but not checked out. Most libraries prefer that users do not reshelve such items, in case they are misshelved.
If an item that is not checked out cannot be found where it should be in the stacks, the shelving rooms and reshelving carts are the first, best place to check.
