From LISWiki
An Internet search engine favored by librarians and most of the world.
Though not condonded by the company's trademark policy, Google is sometimes used as a verb, as in "to Google" a topic, meaning to search Google for it. "Googleization" is another term that has been coined.
As part of a popular suite of services -- including maps, Usenet archives, image search, news, and shopping -- Google includes:
- The Google Book Search (formerly Google Print) project has received much attention from libraries. In August 2005 Google responded to publishers' concerns by agreeing to remove fair use snippets from their site.[1]
- Google Scholar indexes many (usually) peer-reviewed articles and serves as a basic citation index.
